Copper Street Capital

An Alternative Investment Firm

Established in 2015, Copper Street Capital LLP (“Copper Street”) is an alternative investment firm focused on capturing thematic value-driven opportunities within the financial services sector. The Copper Street team brings deep industry knowledge with a breadth of execution – aiming to identify absolute and relative value opportunities across capital structures as well as investing in longer-term strategic deals in the sector.

Copper Street is authorised and regulated by the FCA, registered as an Exempt Reporting Adviser with the SEC, and is based in the UK.

Our Edge

Copper Street is exclusively focused on financial services and invests across public and private markets. Doing both of these together in one firm is quite unique. We believe that we have a competitive advantage from having an active engagement in the markets as well as an extensive network which allows us to identify strategic opportunities.

Our leadership team has had extensive experience building and running businesses successfully at tier 1 financial institutions. Finally, we seek to align interests and to build long term partnerships with our investors.

We believe the combination of active engagement in both public and private markets enables Copper Street Capital to outperform.

Our Investment Approach

We believe there are many forces shaping the transformation of the financial services industry, from regulatory to macro-economic events. These forces have created both tactical and strategic opportunities in the sector and we have created Copper Street to invest in those opportunities.

The fund will be overwhelmingly invested in public securities, taking advantage of recapitalizations and discrepancies that are created across the entire capital structure. We will also use our presence in the market and our extensive network to identify strategic situations where we can bring our operational expertise to bear as a means of creating long term value.

Public Markets

Pricing inconsistencies across the capital structure that shift over time, creating absolute and relative value opportunities

Short term dislocations as markets evolve and regulatory directives are clarified

Special situations with higher risk return profile

Opportunities created by geopolitical events potentially impacting the financial services sector

Private Markets

Longer term, private deals, with a focus on European financial companies

Significant positions in businesses that represent opportunities to build long term value through active engagement with stakeholders

Co-investment opportunities for investors

August 2025

There was an absence of fireworks last month despite several smouldering macroeconomic and geopolitical situations.  The relative calm owes more to the fact that it was August, rather than any sense of confidence in current leadership to resolve these outstanding problems.

Jerry del Missier is the Founding Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Copper Street Capital, established in July 2015.  Jerry oversees all investment activities across the firm’s liquid hedge fund strategy.

He brings over three decades of deep experience in banks, with a career spanning senior leadership roles in capital markets, treasury, and bank management. His rise through Barclays, from senior trading roles to Co-Chief Executive Officer of Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank, and ultimately Chief Operating Officer of Barclays Bank Plc, afforded him unparalleled insight into the inner workings of a global bank, including its balance sheet, risk architecture, and regulatory interface.

During his tenure at Barclays (1997–2012), Jerry played a pivotal role in the acquisition and integration of Lehman Brothers, and led key initiatives in the post-crisis restructuring, recapitalisation, and refinancing of the bank. His leadership extended across operational reengineering and the navigation of evolving financial regulations.  This experience has shaped Copper Street’s investment approach in taking advantage of recapitalizations and identifying mispricing’s/discrepancies across the entire capital structure of European banks.

Prior to Barclays, Jerry was a Senior Managing Director of Derivative Products at Bankers Trust (1988–1997) and began his career at Scotiabank in Toronto (1987–1988). He holds an MBA and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University.
